Casperrin Gin is crafted in Altona North by distiller Sam Hunneysett, who takes a deliberately hands-on, small-batch approach to production. Built on a grape-based spirit rather than the more common grain base, the gin carries a naturally softer, rounder mouthfeel from the outset. The botanical profile leans distinctly Australian, with native lemon myrtle delivering a lifted citrus intensity and pepperberry adding a subtle warmth and spice through the mid-palate. Classic juniper remains present but finely tuned, allowing these local elements to take the lead without losing balance. A faint savoury, almost saline note runs through the finish, a quiet nod to its coastal surroundings, giving the gin structure and length. The result is a precise, modern Australian style that is clean, dry and focused, yet layered with enough character to stand confidently both neat and with tonic.
